Western Championship proved to be another event challenged by the weather for the U16 team. As with other events this year, the event was adjusted to two slaloms, and the team didn’t have the chance to experiment with other disciplines like Super-G or GS. Missing out on experience in other disciplines was a blow to our athletes, who were counting on this time to practice and improve in areas this year’s challenging weather have kept them from.
Despite the rain, poor snow conditions, and the state of the course, the athletes did improve a lot. In the Dual Panel event, we had better results, with Isla Gordon winning first place along with her team. The rest of our athletes showed a decent performance, especially considering it’s their first year in U16.
We still have a lot to improve, but we keep moving forward. Well done team!
Thanks to the support of the parents, especially Mathieu. Having a chaperone at an event allows coaches to focus more on coaches, and keeps the team schedule running smoothly.
