As you are all aware, we are now in Phase 2 of the opening-up process in BC. In this phase, we can resume club activities. This will allow us to plan outdoor activities for our members, a most welcome development.
As was informed in the previous update, ViaSport has delivered the restart guidelines to BC Alpine, who will create specific guidelines for alpine ski racing. Once we receive these guidelines, the club has to create our own set, in accordance to our specific situation. The Board has already started this process in order to advance as much as possible.
Looking ahead, we continue delivering virtual physical conditioning session for U14 and U16 and are planning the activities for the other groups once we are allowed to go outside. Unfortunately, Whistler Blackcomb will not open the glacier this summer, so there will be no skiing in our back yard. On the other hand, we will strive to provide physical conditioning suited to each age level, in accordance with the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) document created by Alpine Canada.
