U14 racing at Whistler, a fun time and good showing

by | Feb 1, 2018 | Uncategorized

The U14 team had two days of slalom races at Whistler, to make up for the postponed December race. Despite not having trained gates, first gate training was Friday before the weekend races, our team tried hard and performed well. Snow conditions were very good, hard man-made snow accounted for a good track for all.

Accompanied by Geoff McBeath and Wanda Felt as chaperones, the team lodged in the Whistler Athletes Center. Thank you to the chaperones!!!

Saturday two one run races were held. On the ladies side, 58 racers started. Emily Parkyn finished 21 and 23, showing consistency. Grace Scharf did not finish (DNF) on the first race and was 24 on the second. Isabel Shaw DNF on both races. Asha Gandhi was 29 on the first race and DNF on the second. Lotte Johanessen was 3o on both races, also very consistent. Alyssa Emery finished 34 on the first race and was disqualified (DQ) on the second one. On the boys side 58 racers started. Cody Scott jumped from bib 54 to 8th place in the first race and 12 in the second.
