Bowen Training Centre opens this season! Contribute to our fundraising campaign

Our fundraising campaign for the first phase of the Bowen Training Centre in partnership with Cypress Mountain that will open this race season for all of our athletes is now officially launched! Our goal is to raise $20,000. The campaign is in partnership with SportBC and the National Sport Trust Fund, a registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association (RCAAA). An official tax receipt for all qualifying donations of $20 or greater will be issued by the National Sports Trust Fund.

You can donate by going online at the SportBC website:…

Please look into matching donations and donations from your employers to help us with this initiative. No amount is too small or too large! You can keep up-to-date on our progress and see an image of the planned location on our web site at

Details of the Lower Bowen Training Centre:
Cypress Mountain and the Cypress Ski Club are working together on the development of the training performance centre. Development of the training center will require improvements to the designated run to allow for optimal skiing/racing terrain and grooming capabilities. It will take a number of years to complete the entire project but will open for the 2015 season! Initial prep work has started and will continue to be done, including removing a large rock outcropping, regrading and replanting that area, and making necessary changes to the terrain to provide for grooming access, as illustrated above. This work will cost approximately $20,000.

We are very pleased that Cypress Mountain has partnered with us on this project that will be of great benefit to our Club and, more importantly, our athletes by providing ideal training terrain in a highly visible location on the Mountain. As a non-for-profit Club, we need the help of our members, their families and friends to finance this project. Please support our young athletes by making a tax deductible donation for this project through the National Sports Trust Fund, who will issue a tax exemption receipt.

A very succesful evening at the Capilano Rugby Club on Friday Feb. 14

More than 60 people gathered for our annual fundraising event this past Friday Feb 14. We started at 8 pm with people arriving ready to party and bid on the silent auction items.

Rob Lahti, Mt. Seymour Head Coach and a renowned musician, was there to entertain us with his music and there was dancing too!!

Our President, Ron Wakkary informed the audience about our pet project, the grading and improvement of Coyote 7, our training venue at Cypress. This project is being financed by donations, so a project will be set up through the National Sports Trust Fund for donations. All donations over $20 receive a tax receipt. More information on this matter will follow. We want the first stage completed by next season.

A big thank you to all that attended, your generosity is greatly appreciated.
